Undergraduate Academic Requirements
- High School Certificate (SSC + HSC / O-level + A-level) - Official transcripts with notarized English translation
- Minimum GPA - Generally 3.0/4.0 or equivalent; varies by university
- SAT (optional but competitive) - Many universities are test-optional; SAT 1100–1500+ strengthens your application
- ACT (alternative to SAT) - Score 22–34; check each university's policy
Graduate / Postgraduate Academic Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree (4-year) - Certified transcripts and degree certificate with attestation
- Minimum CGPA - Generally 3.0/4.0; top universities require 3.5+
- GRE (General) - Required by most STEM and social-science programs - Verbal + Quant 295–320+
- GMAT - Required for MBA/business programs - 600–720+ for competitive schools
- Letters of Recommendation - 2–3 academic or professional referees
- Statement of Purpose (SOP) - 500–1,000 words: goals, research interests, why this university
- CV/Resume - Academic and work experience
English Proficiency Requirements
- IELTS Academic - Undergraduate: 6.0–6.5 overall | Postgraduate: 6.5–7.0 overall
- TOEFL iBT - Undergraduate: 80+ | Postgraduate: 90–100+
- Duolingo English Test - Accepted by many universities: 105–120+
- Exemption - Possible with MOI letter if previous education was in English medium
Financial Solvency & Sponsorship Documents
- Bank Statement - Minimum USD 25,000–40,000/year (tuition + living); 6-month bank history
- Sponsor's Bank Statement - If family-sponsored: 6-month statement + employment proof
- Affidavit of Financial Support - Notarized if sponsor is a third party
- Scholarship/Award Letter - Include if applicable
- Property Documents (supporting) - Land deed, FDR, savings certificates strengthen the profile
Visa Application Checklist
- Passport - Valid 6+ months beyond intended stay; 2 blank visa pages
- Form I-20 - Issued by SEVP-approved US university after admission
- SEVIS Fee Receipt - USD 350 paid at fmjfee.com before visa interview
- DS-160 Form - Online nonimmigrant visa application - print confirmation page
- Visa Application Fee (MRV) - USD 185 - paid at designated bank
- Visa Appointment - Scheduled at US Embassy Dhaka
- IELTS/TOEFL Score Report - Official score report
- Academic Documents - SSC, HSC, Degree certificates + transcripts (notarized)
- Passport-size Photos - 2 photos meeting US visa photo specifications
- Proof of Ties to Bangladesh - Family documents, property, or employment offer back home
Processing time: 3–5 weeks after interview. Schedule interview up to 365 days before I-20 start date. Social media screening applies from 2025.
