Undergraduate Academic Requirements
- HSC / A-Level Certificate - Official transcripts with notarized English translation
- Minimum GPA - Generally 65–75%+ or equivalent; varies by province and university
- SAT/ACT - Optional at most Canadian universities; may strengthen applications to competitive programs
Graduate / Postgraduate Academic Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree - Certified transcripts and degree certificate; notarized copies required
- Minimum CGPA - Generally 3.0/4.0 (75%+); research universities may require 3.3+
- GRE - Not mandatory at most Canadian universities; competitive for top programs
- GMAT - Required for MBA programs - 550–680+ for good business schools
- Letters of Recommendation - 2–3 academic referees
- Statement of Purpose (SOP) - Clearly explain why Canada, why this program, and future career goals
- CV/Resume - Required for graduate admissions
English Proficiency Requirements
- IELTS Academic - Undergraduate: 6.0 (no band below 5.5) | Postgraduate: 6.5 (no band below 6.0)
- TOEFL iBT - Undergraduate: 80+ | Postgraduate: 90+
- Duolingo English Test - Accepted by many universities: 110+
- PTE Academic - Check with individual university; generally 60+
Financial Solvency & Sponsorship Documents
- Bank Statement - Proof of CAD 10,000–20,000+ per year for living costs + tuition; 6-month history
- GIC (Guaranteed Investment Certificate) - CAD 10,000 may be required as proof of funds
- Sponsor's Bank Statement - Parents'/guardian's 6-month statement + income proof
- Affidavit of Support - Notarized if third-party sponsor
- Scholarship Letter - If applicable
- Property/Business Documents - Supporting docs to strengthen the financial profile
Visa Application Checklist
- Passport - Valid for duration of study + 6 months
- Acceptance Letter from DLI - Designated Learning Institution acceptance letter
- Study Permit Application (IMM 1294) - Online via GCKey account
- Application Fee - CAD 150 + CAD 85 biometrics fee
- Biometrics Appointment - At VFS Global Dhaka
- Medical Examination - At IOM Dhaka or approved panel physician
- Statement of Purpose / Study Plan - Why Canada, why this program, post-study plans
- Academic Transcripts and Certificates - SSC/HSC/Degree - notarized copies
- IELTS/TOEFL Score Report - Official score report
- Police Clearance Certificate - From Bangladesh Police
Processing time: 12–16 weeks. Bangladeshi students cannot use the SDS (Student Direct Stream) as of 2025 - standard stream only. A strong SOP and thorough financial documents are critical.
